Close your eyes and think back to when you were 8 years old. Yes I know, it takes me a minute to remember too! Now tell me what was one of your favorite memories? Mine is going to Baskin-Robbins with my parents. We normally would go to a shop in a local mall that had our favorite grocery store as an anchor. My dad always ordered a chocolate malt shake, my mom usually ordered strawberry and I would order two scoops of chocolate. But one day, I decided to do something different and sampled chocolate chip. My ice cream eating life was forever changed.
I don’t know what about the chocolate chip ice cream that pulled me in but it became my favorite flavor. And it still is my favorite flavor above any and all ice creams and ice cream shops. Since my Baskin-Robbins days I have branched out to other brands and types of ice cream such as gelato. And as much as I enjoy good gelato when I am seeking to have a flavor from childhood my go to is two scoops of Baskin-Robbins chocolate chip in cup. You can say it is my security blanket the food that brings me comfort and happy memories.
We all have those moments where we want to back track to where we were most comfortable. For me memories of time with my parents is one of my happy places. When you are an only child there is a special bond that is formed with your parents. My happy happens to center around chocolate chip ice cream but what ever your happy place may be embrace it. When days get hectic, sit back and take a minute to breath in and out, centering in on your happy place.
